Wines of Campania

Tenuta Cavalier Pepe

The Pepe family is an ancient one in Irpinia, which has for generations been dedicated to the production of wines, marketed throughout Italy and internationally.

Entrepreneur Angelo Pepe, following his intuition and driven by a love for his land, worked hard to write the next chapter in the family’s history. The result was Tenuta Cavalier Pepe, a cellar, winery, restaurant and bed and breakfast that has become a centre for wine production and tourism of the highest quality.

Angelo Pepe’s foresight was rewarded in 1998 when then Italian President, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, appointed him a “Knight of the Republic” for the value of his work. The Cavalier Pepe’s eldest daughter, Milena, is a graduate of viticulture and oenology in France and marketing in Belgium. Today, she leads the family estate with charisma and expertise, ensuring that the wines meet the highest standards. Learn more here.

Albamarina

The Albamarina company is located in the province of Salerno , between Centola and Foria, in southern Italy, on a medium hill, at an altitude of about 300-350 meters above sea level, perfect for the typical vines of this area such as Aglianico and Fiano.

The landscape is unique in the world and gives the idea that history meets nature, rocky ridges, a river that seems to be embedded, the Lambro, which flows placidly among steep cliffs, and the bright blue of the pristine sea of Palinuro is the backdrop for beaches hidden by sandy coves, sea caves, natural arches, Saracen towers and ancient forts worn out by time.

The 24 hectares of the property, protected behind by the imposing bulk of the monte Bulgheria, have been allocated to different cultivations: 10 hectares to viticulture, and the remaining to olive groves and orchards.

The production is of about 25.000 bottles produced annually in various labels: two white wines: Valmezzana Cilento Fiano D.O.P. And Etel Cilento Falanghina I.G.P. Paestum , two red wines: Agriddi Aglianico D.O.P. Cilento and Futos Aglianico I.G.P. Paestum.

The grapes which are utilized in the cellar have a long history in the Campania region, and in the last years, are enjoying an increase of interest, thanks to the fact that the wine-growing regions in the Italian south are investing in modernization of techniques and equipment for vinification, and furthermore in the desire, like that of the Notaroberto family, to revitalize the autochthonous and classical varieties.

It must be underlined, that in connection to this, the Albamarina development program, provides a plot of land for research on autochthonous vines of Cilento for the Università Statale di Milano, Agraria faculty, for the purpose of carrying out a research on the vines used in Cilento in bygone times, curated by the Director of the Agraria Faculty Prof. Attilio Scienza. The experimentation will take place – on one hundred vines of the different varieties which are about fifty, to then proceed to a micro vinification, and so establish which are the vines to put in production to create a typically cilentano genotype.

A truly important challenge for Albamarina, which goes to confirm the interest existing for Cilento, seen as an excellent production area of Aglianico and which the experts of the sector as regards the Cilento Aglianico D.O.C. have, already for some time defined it “Barolo of the South”.

TERRE DELL`ANGELO

We are three friends, originally from the upper Caserta area, e  in 2015 we decided to dedicate ourselves  to the production of wine and oil

United by an interest in the rural world, we have chosen to invest in agriculture: a historical and natural sector on which the local economy has been based for centuries.

Our vineyards, located at an altitude that varies between 240 and 280 meters. asl, are located in the municipalities of Piedimonte Matese, Alife and Gioia Sannitica, in the Matese Regional Park, in the province of Caserta. The vineyard area, characterized by mainly calcareous and calcareous-clayey soils, is approximately 5ha and has a SOUTH/SOUTH-EAST exposure.

We promote the diffusion of native crops that are an expression of our lands so that agricultural techniques are applied that protect the environment and the landscape and are, at the same time, respectful of human dignity and work.
